March 12 - 14, 2014, the annual St. Petersburg Technical Fair will be held in St. Petersburg; the Fair will celebrate its anniversary this year. The Fair dates back to 1994, when the first PTFair was held. While monitoring the status of Russian industry and market trends, the organisers held every year new exhibition and convention events which formed in 2004 in a mega-project under a single brand of St. Petersburg Technical Fair.
Over the years, PTFair has become a leader among industrial exhibitions in Russia. The Fair was visited by more than 100,000 professionals, and not only leading Russian companies, but also organisations from more than 20 countries displayed their products. Significantly, around 70 percent of exhibitors have become permanent participants of the PTFair.
The Fair exhibition programme traditionally combines some of the most relevant industry areas: Metallurgy. Casting, Metalworking, Mechanical Engineering, Compressors. Pumps. Valves and Accessories, Non-metallic materials for the industry, Services for industrial enterprises. Together with the Fair, the following events take place: High technologies. Innovations. Investments 20 years edition, and the 3rd AUTOPROM Russia exhibition and conference. Since 2008, the St. Petersburg Partneriate including the Matchmaking has been held together with the PTFair.
Topical sessions of HI-TECH vary from high technology (aerospace, information, biotechnology, etc.), nanomaterials and nanotechnology, innovations for different industries, investments (development financing, venture financing). The event format that combines not only the exhibition part, but also a large-scale business programme allows monitoring changes in the innovation market. Following its motto - 'From innovation - to implementing', the exhibition and congress becomes the link between science and industry, developers and investors.
The importance of PTFair for the market is increased with an intensive business programme – the St. Petersburg Industrial Congress which includes conferences, workshops, round tables and presentations. For seven years now, the Congress has brought together around 1,000 specialists who discuss the issues of the real economy.
Also, with a view to revitalise activities of innovation technology companies, a contest 'The best innovative project and the best research and development project of the year' established in 1998 by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Russia is held as part of the PTFair. Interest in the contest is increasing every year: in 2013, the number of participating projects reached 265. Over the years of the contest, more than 3,000 developments in different fields of national economy have been awarded.
