The St. Petersburg Technical Fair and HI-TECH Innovation Exhibition were successfully held in the city on the Neva river from March 12 to 14.
This year the exhibitions gathered over 200 participants from ten countries, including Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, the Republic of Belarus, Poland, India, Turkey, the PRC, Greece and Russia. Exhibitors presented their products and developments in the following areas: "Metalworking. Mechanical Engineering", "Metallurgy. Casting", "Fasteners. Hardware. Tools" and "Industrial Innovations". The XIII St. Petersburg SME Partneriat "Industry in regions: from specialization to integration" traditionally took place at the same venue.
The event was attended by 6,700 specialists — government officials, heads of major enterprises, representatives of small and medium enterprises, educational institutions, sector-specific funds, unions and associations from different regions of Russia.
For the first time, a special Industrial Startup Village zone was organized under STF, HI-TECH and the Partneriat, where innovative projects of companies, technology parks and business incubators were presented. Developers were able to demonstrate their projects to investors and government officials. In total, 10 projects were presented at Industrial Startup Village.
On March 12, the Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov took part in the opening ceremony of the STF, HI-TECH and the St. Petersburg SME Partneriat. In his speech, he noted the important role of industry for the region, and called it "an economic guarantee for the development of Saint Petersburg".
This year, for the first time at the STF and HI-TECH, a new exclusive Business Networking service was working, which was attended by representatives of exhibitors at the level of decision-makers, key visitors and government officials of St. Petersburg.
All participants of the event were introduced to each other, and got the opportunity to tell a few minutes about their business, projects, goals and objectives.
The session participants noted the productivity of communication in the new format, and expressed the wish to repeat it at the STF and HI-TECH in 2020.
This year's business program was presented by the events of the XI St. Petersburg SME Partneriat, including the special session "How to ensure technological leadership of the St. Petersburg industry" and the conferences "Development of a new generation of domestic materials processing technologies as a basis for the Industry 4.0 strategy implementation", "Production digitalization: smart conveyor and production lines. Solutions and cases...", "High-tech Innovations in the Digital Transformation Era", "Innovation management at industrial enterprises", "Creating a single ecosystem for the search, development and implementation of projects of youth technology entrepreneurship".
On March 12, together with the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of St. Petersburg, a special session "How to ensure technological leadership of the St. Petersburg industry" was organized. The CEO of the executive directorate of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of St. Petersburg, the first vice-president M. А. Lobin acted as a moderator. Session participants noted that enterprises and new projects need support, including government support, but such aid should be productive and targeted.
On March 13, together with the Association of the Machine-Tool Industry Cluster of St. Petersburg, the St. Petersburg Regional Branch of the Russian Engineering Union, the Foundry Association of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region (LenAL), a conference of tool-making products and machine-tools components manufacturers and suppliers "Development of a new generation of domestic materials processing technologies as a basis for the Industry 4.0 strategy implementation" took place. Welcoming remarks to the participants were addressed by: the Head of the department for development of industry and the agro-industrial complex of the Committee on Industrial Policy and Innovations of St. Petersburg — А. А. Yakovlev; Deputy Chairman of the Commission on Machine-Building of Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) — V. V. Smetana; Chairman of the Committee on Foundry and Press-Forging of the Russian Engineering Union — A. Yu. Petrov; CEO of the executive directorate of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of St. Petersburg, the first vice-president — M. А. Lobin. All speakers noted the strategic importance of the innovative development of the Russian machine-tool industry, which largely determines the competitiveness of the domestic industry.
At the end of the plenary session, in the presence of all the conference participants, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the Association of the Machine-Tool Industry Cluster of St. Petersburg and the NWIM RANEPA.
On March 13–14, under STF the "Fasteners. Quality. Responsibility" conference took place, which was attended by more than 70 professionals. Traditionally, the conference became a venue for organizing a dialogue of professionals, discussing sensitive issues, and making key decisions and once again confirmed the reputation of one of the leading business events in the industry.
In total, more than 1,000 professionals participated in business events.
An additional bonus for exhibitors of the STF and HI-TECH was the participation in the prestigious "The best innovative project and the best scientific and technical development of the year" Awards. Participation in the Awards is not only a chance to declare oneself as an advanced company, but also the opportunity to present your own developments to potential investors and consumers.
On March 14, awarding ceremony was held. The expert jury reviewed more than 100 applications. The prize of the Grand Prix was won by the Kompensator Scientific and Production Enterprise JSC for the "Designing and manufacturing of Expansion Joints for various industries and applications" project. Also at the ceremony 5 special prizes were awarded for the developments marked by experts and 36 gold and 46 silver medals.
The final day of the STF and HI-TECH exhibitions was declared the Day of the Young Professional. For students of technical universities, colleges and secondary vocational institutions the field trips around the exhibition exposition and acquaintance with the most interesting stands were organized. Students learned about the modern production experience and became better acquainted with their specialties. The Day of the Young Professional passed with great success. The event was attended by more than 400 students from educational institutions of St. Petersburg and Novgorod.
